Note: This is not a sponsored post. No one is going to sponsor this blog. I have like one reader and it's the person from Toastmasters assigned to evaluate the blog as part of the project. So don't worry, this is a totally legit review.
I've been going grey since I was 18 years old. It has been a non-trivial number of years since then and I am now all grey. Which is a bit of a misnomer because you don't really get grey hair, you get white hair and it blends in with your dark hairs and the effect is grey.
Anyway, I dye my hair every six weeks, but it grows fast enough that grey roots are obvious around week 4. It's VERY obvious. Think Pepe Le Pew. So I bought some of that spray that you spray on your roots to cover the grey "in between salon visits".
There are two ads, one with that lady from Desperate Housewives and another with my ultimate woman-crush, Morena Baccarin.
If Morena Baccarin can admit to hiding her roots with a can of spray paint, then I can too.
But brand loyalty means nothing to me and I ended up buying the Desperate Housewives brand because it was on special at Countdown.
I want to put this to the test for my reader (hi!). None of that instagram stuff where they have a professional stylist do their hair and makeup, because that's not a realistic for most people. I wanted to do it in a way that we would actually use it. With your hair barely combed and still damp from the shower because you are in a rush and have to go to work. No make up, no filter, no hair straighteners.
Here is the before shot. I tried to get as much light as possible on my hair so you can see it the harsh, unflattering reality. Here at Lady Who Reviews Stuff, I'm all about honesty.
I followed the instructions and sprayed the hair from approximated 15 cm away and then let it dry. At least I think I let it dry. It was a bit hard to tell. Then I returned to the same sunny spot and took the after photo.
Well you can judge for yourself, but I think it did a pretty good job. It hides the skunk stripe to a reasonable degree. Still looks a bit grey but it could be that I just didn't spray enough.
I've been wearing it all day and it doesn't itch or burn or smell weird. But when I scratch my head I get some black stuff on my fingers which is not cool. I guess I could just not scratch my head, but how else will I demonstrate puzzlement? I guess I could rest my hand on chin. Or slowly remove my glasses. I will workshop it.
Final Rating: Hair lovely enough for a Shindig.
